MUST FOR OBLIGATION Englishgrammarsecrets

This is a good activities to help you practice using 'Must' as an obligation.

The first activity
http://www.englishgrammarsecrets.com/musthaveto/exercise2.html gives you lots of examples in which we use must as a personal obligation. It is a simple exercise where you need to fill in the gaps with words at the bottom. I like it because it helps you see the situations in which we use 'Must' as an obligation; it gives you great context.

HAVE TO FOR OBLIGATION Englishgrammarsecrets

http://www.englishgrammarsecrets.com/musthaveto/exercise3.html is a great activity to help you practice using 'have to' as an obligation. It is very simple. You need to mix and match the sentences. I like it because it gives you a great context and allows you to see how we use 'have to'. Each sentence gives a good example of what you should do.

MUST & HAVE TO englishpage.com

This is a great exercise from the fantastic website Englishpage.com. It is an activity that helps you practice the difference between 'Must' and 'Have to'.http://www.englishpage.com/modals/interactivemodal2.htm It is quite a difficult exerciose because you need to think about:

  1. Positive and Negative such as Don't have to and Must not
  2. The past had to and the future will have to.
Some of the vocabulary in the sentences is quite difficult, so I would recommend this activity for Upper Waystage students and above.
